Forgive to Forget

Forgive to Forget

To Forgive is to Forget

Matthew 18:23-35

Torment is the result of unforgiveness.

Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Forgiveness is how we release the emotional and spiritual depravity that pain and guilt cause in our lives.

Trespasses produce Pain. A trespass is what gets forgiven, the pain is the byproduct that gets relieved.

What is forgiveness?  The act of transferring your pain to the cross.

Forgiveness, Opposite = Guilt

The byproduct of guilt… “Bitterness”

Pain becomes Bitterness, which turns into Vengeance, and leads to Wrath

And the next thing you know… you are responsible for something that only God in His justice and holiness can administer.

In essence, you are blaspheming His Word…

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Proverbs 24:17-18

17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: 18 Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

Stress = Pressure or Tension

Hence Forgiveness is highly coveted – as demonstrated here where forgiveness is what gets held back when the unmentionable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is committed.

Mark 3:28-29

28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

      • Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is to struggle against eternal predestination.

Forgiveness = Deliverance

Blaspheme = railing, speak evil, impious (not showing respect or reverence,) scurlious (making or spreading scandalous claims about someone with the intention of damaging their reputation.)

Damnation = Justice, Judgment, Tribunal

  • Forgive Others for those things they’ve done to you by serving them, honoring them and giving into their bosom.
    Proverbs 25:21-22 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: 22 For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward thee.

    *** Two-fold process from my experience…
    1) Forgive them in your spirit 2) Ask God to forgive them.

    *** Forgiveness is a layered experience, the more layers you subject to the process, the more healing you receive. Physical, Emotional, Spiritual, Conscious, etc…

  • Forgive Yourself and free yourself from guilt by asking God for Forgiveness of Specific Sins – Ephesians 1:7 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

We YIELD to God in various ways…

Physically = Serving Others

Senses = Purity, Holiness

Emotionally = Forgiveness

Conscious = Wisdom & Knowledge of God’s Oracles

Subconscious = Character & Discipline

Creatively = Praise, Worship and Thanksgiving

Eternally = Prayer

As long as you harbor unforgiveness in your heart, you are subjecting yourself, your life and others to the power of Satan.

Acts 26:18

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

The greater the crime against you, the greater the forgiveness and the more you benefit.
